Uncle Johnny's Nolichucky Hostel offers exclusive unpublished Geocaching
adventure to our guests.  Geocaching is a fun and entertaining activity that is
growing in popularity around the globe by GPS users.  Participating in a cache or
"stash" hunt is a fun way to get outdoors and to take advantage of the features
and capability of a GPS unit.                                                                                               
 Using a GPS unit, you will find locations by coordinates that have additional
clues to find a the Uncle Johnny's treasure stash.  Once found, the cache or
stash has a logbook and contains valuable and fun information, coupons and
rewards.   Successful hunters will also be entered in the Uncle Johnny's Geo-
Caching drawing to win a free Uncle Johnny's Merchandise Certificate.
We have several unique geocache hunts to choose from to begin your
geocaching adventure. Geocaching hunts are available to all Uncle Johnny's
Nolichucky Hostel and Outfitters guests.  Upon registration you will receive
directions to the first waypoint to begin your adventure.

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS)
receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches")
anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure,"
usually toys or trinkets of little value. Today, well over 480,000 geocaches are registered on various websites
devoted to the sport. Geocaches are currently placed in 222 countries around the world and on all seven
continents, including Antarctica.
The activity was originally referred to as GPS stash hunt or gpsstashing. This was changed
after a discussion in the gpsstash discussion group at eGroups (now Yahoo!). On May 30,
2000, Matt Stum suggested that "stash" could have negative connotations, and suggested
instead "geocaching
